When your scooter becomes sluggish or jerky, you may need a new replacement speed potentiometer assembly for Drive Medical Mobility scooters. A speed potentiometer, also known as a speed pot or rabbit/turtle dial, is used to adjust the maximum speed at which your scooter can operated. This potentiometer (also known as a speed pot) is found on a wide range of Drive Medical mobility scooter models.
Wets let you choose the potentiometer as an assembly with the knob and harness, or you can just buy the potentiometer without the knob and harness. If you can attach your own wiring, you can save some money.
In a world of sophisticated digital electronics, the humble analog speed potentiometer (or speed pot) still holds its own as the best device for controlling the volume of a low level current. Functioning in the very same manner as a lighting dimmer switch or radio volume control, (which are themselves other potentiometer applications), the speed pot on a mobility scooter or power chair is a monument to the philosophy of keeping things simple. As a result, the speed potentiometer remains an inexpensive and easily replaced part.
Note: If you choose the "Without Knob & Harness" option, we strongly recommend soldering the wiring for a proper connection. A patient mechanic with perfect eyesight might be able to thread the wires through the connector loops and crimp them securely, however we discourage this in lieu of proper soldering.
