Description

Here is our chain tensioner for the Razor E100, E100 Glow, E150, E175, & E90 Accelerator electric scooters. The chain tensioner is an important part of the drive system and should be replaced if damaged or lost. A faulty chain tensioner can be identified by a loose chain that falls off during ride time.

But that's not all. Because chain tensioner springs are often broken or lost, we include an extra spring for you to keep around as a spare. This means that your tensioner will come with two springs, so save that spare where you can find it!

As well as the Razor E90 Accelerator, this chain tensioner will likewise fit versions 33+ of the E100/E125, versions 1 - 46+ of the E100 Glow, versions 18+ of the E150, and versions 29+ of the E175.

Questions

Should the adjuster have positive and constant pressure on the chain? It appears the one I’m repairing is not pitting tension on the chain. Any guidance would be great
We were able to find this disclaimer on page 5 of the Razor E100 Owner's Manual - "The chain should be 'just taut' – in other words snug, but not piano-wire tight. The tension should be similar to the fan chain on an automobile. BE CAREFUL NOT TO ADJUST TOO TIGHT. The tensioning system can easily impart too much tension and snap the chain or bend the motor shaft. Adjust 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time and check the tension each time."

If your chain tensioner is not performing correctly, we'd first recommend counting the number of links in the chain to ensure there are the correct amount. If the chain length is correct, there could be another issue at hand. You could certainly try replacing the chain tensioner to see if that resolves the issue, otherwise we'd recommend reaching out to Razor directly or finding a local Razor repair center in your area for a formal diagnosis.
